Brooke and Barri are compassionate, skilled, and experienced midwives who work with us part-time at Village Obstetrics. They help us in the office, at labor & delivery and on post-partum. Brooke and Barri have years of experience and prestigious advanced training. Just as important, they are kind, generous, insightful and always supportive of our patients’ wishes and birth plans. Village Obstetrics is honored to have their help.

Brooke and Barri also have their own private practices separate from Village Obstetrics. We strongly recommend both of them if you are seeking midwife-only care. For more information on their private practices:

Originally from Virginia, Brooke came to New York because of the abundance of opportunities to practice midwifery. She takes pride in encouraging women to choose the right birth for themselves and their families. After graduating with a BA and nursing degree at the University of Virginia, she earned her MS at Downstate Medical School. Brooke spent four years in the West Village, where she worked at the Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center. She then spent six years practicing at North Central Bronx Hospital, which has the lowest cesarean section rate in New York City. At North Central Bronx, where she worked with Dr. Mussalli, she had the opportunity to experience the wonderful diversity of the New York, where she cared for women with a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds.

Barri is celebrating more than two decades of attending deliveries. She believes deeply that an empowered woman leads to a healthy and peaceful culture and has worked her entire adult life to see that women are educated about their choices in healthcare. She is the proud mother of three amazing women. Barri obtained her nursing degrees at the University of San Francisco and her MS and CNM at the University of California San Francisco. After graduating, she worked at the Stanford University Midwifery Practice and then moved back home to New York City and worked at Bellevue Hospital. Barri has recently returned from the wonderfully enriching opportunity of eight months spent living, traveling and volunteering at a birth center in South East Asia.
